Q: What should I do to prepare for a spray tan?
A: ~Shower and exfoliate prior to your application. Skin should be completely dry before tanning.
~Exfoliating products that leave the skin excessively oily, such as salt scrubs, should be avoided.
~Make sure that all lotions, creams, deodorants, makeup or other toiletries are removed from the skin before a treatment or discolouration and uneven results can occur.
~Waxing or shaving should be done at least a few hours prior to tanning. This includes facial waxing.
~All jewellery should be removed before treatment. Tight fitting jewelry, such as watches or rings, should not be worn until after showering.
~Attire for tanning — You have the choice of being nude, topless or wearing a dark-colored bathing suit or bra/panties (we can provide a disposable). Our DHA solutions wash out of most clothing fabrics easily, but you can expect some to rub off onto your clothing (& bed sheets) after your application.
~Wear dark, loose clothing and shoes to your appointment so that you can wear the same home after your tan. Tight fitting clothing can hinder tanning results and cause uneven results. Plan not to get wet, exercise or perspire for at least 8 hours. At that time the product can be showered off and normal activities can be resumed.
Q: How should I care for my spray tan?
A: ~DURING YOUR POST-TAN SHOWER (preferably the morning after) DO NOT SCRUB, just rinse lightly & blot dry with a towel. Apply a Tan Extender moisturizer, morning and evening. We carry the recommended Tan Extender Lotions which are designed specifically for use after a spray tan to help hold your color longer. Hydrated skin helps prolong the life of your tan. Ask one of our staff to assist you in choosing a moisturizer/tan extender that is right for you. Pool chlorine, products containing glycolic acids or retin-A and products containing high levels of alcohol can strip, fade or cause blotchiness to occur.
